The Other Boleyn Girl

I always wanted to read this novel because Ive heard a lot of good reviews about it, i had second doubts buying this then because first, this is not my kind of genre when it comes to books i usually buy chick lit novels because they are my favorite. Second, i thought this novel will bore me because it's a historical fiction book that is based on the life of 16th-century aristocrat named Mary Boleyn but, i was wrong. Ever since i started reading this novel, i cant put it down every page is filled with action and passion.

"Two sisters competing for the greatest prize: the love of a king

When Mary Boleyn comes to court as an innocent girl of fourteen, she catches the eye of Henry VIII. Dazzled by the king, Mary falls in love with both her golden prince and her growing role as unofficial queen. However, she soon realizes just how much she is a pawn in her family¹s ambitious plots as the king¹s interest begins to wane and she is forced to step aside for her best friend and rival: her sister, Anne. Then Mary knows that she must defy her family and her king, and take her fate into her own hands.

A rich and compelling tale of love, sex, ambition, and intrigue, The Other Boleyn Girl introduces a woman of extraordinary determination and desire who lived at the heart of the most exciting and glamorous court in Europe and survived by following her own heart."

I'm always fascinated about the Tudor period (period between 1485 and 1603, specifically in relation to the history of England). I always admired the way the people speak during this time and their style of dressing, i love the corsets, long dresses and headpieces. This novel takes me to that era and it made me understand more about life back then. I would say that there are some similarities that i noticed in their court with relation to our government nowadays when it comes to power and corruption. The Other Boleyn Girl is a passionate tale of love, intrigue, ambition and betrayal. I definitely recommend this novel to you guys.

There's also a movie version of it starring Natalie Portman (Anne Boleyn), Eric Bana (King Henry VIII) and Scarlett Johansson (Mary Boleyn). I havent watch it yet, i hope it's as good as the novel.

Any other good reads that you can recommend to me? :)

PRC and AHA BLS

I just got home from my basic life support (BLS) training at NC-CLEX, i found their bls program interesting and very informative, walang sinabi yung bls ng sa school namin, haha..it was a video based program from American Heart Association, no long ang boring lectures! you'll really learn from it. For example, for adult cpr one rescuer you'll watch the video on how to do it then after that you'll perform it repeatedly until the instructors told you to stop. After the demonstration, they will play the next video then you'll do it again and so on. At the end of the entire course, you'll have an evaluation exam, it consists of 2 parts: a return demonstration and a written one. You have to pass both, if you dont you have to repeat the entire course and pay again.

What i love about our training is their 1:3 ratio for participants, meaning one instructor for three students, unlike the other programs where in there are so many students for only one instructor. Tutok talaga sila sainyo kaya you'll really learn. The training venue itself is nice, they have different dummies that works! haha.. and they have the proper equipments for the said course. I recommend you guys (nursing students/health practitioners) to enroll in NC-CLEX, they also have other trainings and programs besides bls.

After the training, you'll get the card and certificate :)

And oh, after 10 years i finally got my prc license! yay! :) haha!

After all the necessary trainings that i have done, i hope i could get a job soon as a nurse :)

Together Again ♥

It's been awhile since Rj and I went on a date, the last time we were together was when he accompanied me to register for my PRC license, that's November 11,2011,super late right? haha, I haven't had much time to fix my nursing related stuffs after the results came because I was working then. Anyway, we've been so busy with our lives lately, he's running errands for his family while I, on the other hand, besides drooling over Damon Salvatore almost everyday while I'm watching TVD..busy with the necessary trainings for nursing. We also had a little misunderstanding because of this. I don't want to be the demanding girlfriend but sometimes I just cant help it, I guess it's normal for us girls to feel that way especially if we miss that person so much, that we feel that he isn't giving you enough "time" ;) But of course like most problems encountered in relationships we talked about this like "mature" adults..mature..meaning I completely went "deadma" mode for awhile or I gave him that "cold" feeling. For example, i don't put smileys in text messages anymore (HAHA!), i answer texts like i was my father..meaning no punctuation marks at all and i only gave one word answers when he asked me something..how mature right? ;) What I realized about doing this "cold" feeling to your bf/gf was it will never solve the problem you had, you'll just prolong it..the best way is to talk about it. Good communication is always a must for relationships to work (expert? haha!)  After we had our "talk",i completely understand his reasons and finally we went out today, hence this post.

I'm just so happy to spend my time with him again :) We were supposed to watch Breaking Dawn at ATC, but we decided to just stay at a coffee shop to catch up on each other's life.

Starbucks' S'mores, it was too sweet for my taste but it's good.

Long talks plus coffee equals one perfect rainy afternoon :)

A Long and Boring Update About My Life

It's been months since I last posted anything on this blog. Ive been on hiatus because of the board exam. An obligatory "What the fcuk is happening to Sarah" blog post is now in order.

To start things off, I'm unemployed.HAHA!

I passed the board exam! yay! for that :) It wasnt so hard to find my name on the list because Im the only Gernale who took and passed the board exam..haha.

I worked in a bank for a short period of time. I surprisingly enjoyed it despite the busy environment and irate clients, the people who i worked with, made it more fun for me :)

I finally replaced my 4 year old ipod video to ipod touch 4th gen. I'm addicted to "dash" games and photo apps.

I'm currently hooked at this series, this is not your ordinary vampire story (i.e. twilight saga) It's definitely way  better and the casts are hotter! specifically DAMON! I'm in love with him.. hahaha.

Life after the board exam..let the pictures do the talking ;)

All pictures were stolen from Facebook. Hi friends. :D

And now, I still have to train for BLS before I could find a job (as a nurse). I'm already done in my IVT training,  For now, I'm living the bum life and i'm loving it, will blog more about this soon :)

My Mojo is back! :)

6 days to go :(

I can’t believe I will be graduating next week, April 18, 2011, 6 days to go. It’s a bittersweet moment for me, I’m extremely happy because finally after 4 long years of hard work in college, I will be graduating already, but sad at the same time, because I will miss school  (I can’t believe I’m saying this)  yes you’ve heard it right, despite the long hours of studying, sleepless nights,  making countless NCPs, standing  for 8 hours on duty, brain- wracking exams and the list goes on. I will miss all of it! :(

I never really thought that I’d survived Nursing. Before I enter to college, I’d hear stories from other people that said na sobrang hirap daw ng nursing, well, after 4 years in it, I would say it is hard. This course requires hard work, a lot of Patience and Perseverance. Despite the challenges in my course, I’m proud to say that I’ve been on the dean’s list and president’s circle several times aand I’ve also been on MDC’s Top 100 last semester.  All the hard work really paid off when I received these awards.

My college life has been one heck of a roller coaster ride for me, so many highs and so many lows! :)

Lows

1. Being away from home- During my first year in college, I got home sick most of the time because this is my first time that I’ve been away from our home for a long time. I miss the south, not that I have anything against the north- I love the energy it gives me- it’s just that I do miss the steady feel of the south . There’s just this familiarity and sense of home that I feel there.

2. NCPs everyday and NPs every rotation- Last week while cleaning my room, I saw my first Nursing Care Plan that I made when I was in 2nd year and boy, did I suck! Haha, there were red marks all over my paper and I laughed so hard because of the obviously wrong things that I’ve written in it. I just don’t like making NCPs after each duty and Nursing Process after every rotation, because instead of resting when I got home, I still have to do these paper works.

3. 3rd year Grand case presentation- This is definitely the most unforgettable moment in my college life. Despite the sleepless nights and hard work that me and group mates put on to it. There was an incident that happened between one of my group mates and one of the panelist while defending it.  I can’t tell you what is it but because of that incident me and some of my group mates ended up crying about it. But, still our group and the panelist patched things up at the end of the day and we really got a high grade in it.

Highs

1. Independence- College gives you a lot of Independence, from choosing your subjects, professors (in other universities)  to long hours of break (you can go anywhere) and etc.  My parents are never strict to us when it comes to going out so I never experienced lying to them when it comes to gimmicks and sleepovers, because they always allow me. I really appreciate all the trust that they’d given to me and because of that I don’t do anything wild or crazy and I always go home before 3 am  :)))

2. Being Street-smart- Since I’ve been studying here in Manila, I’ve been commuting everyday for the past 4 years and because of that I’ve learned the pasiko-sikot of Manila and Makati. Name a place and I can tell you in a heartbeat how to get there :) I just love how knowledgeable I am of this things because I know that I will never get lost here in Manila.

 3. New friends- I love meeting different kinds of people every day, which is also one of the things that i love in my course.  I have some patients that became my friends and they even added me up on facebook ;) . I also met my true friends in college, Planets (because we are 9 in the group), they’re my best girlfriends and I wouldn’t survive college without them.

There were so many things that happened to me during my college life, Good and Bad. If I’ve been given a chance to experience college again, I would do it all over again and wouldn’t change a thing about it. I love how college made me into a better and stronger person that I’m right now. It’s sad that in merely 6 days, I will be ending this great chapter in my life; yet I’m excited and scared that I will be beginning a new one.

He's not perfect. You aren't either, and the two of you will never be perfect.

But if he can make you laugh at least once, causes you to think twice, and if he admits to being human and making mistakes, hold onto him and give him the most you can.

He isn't going to quote poetry.
He's not thinking about you every moment.
But he will give you a part of him that he knows you could break.
Don't hurt him, don't change him, and don't expect more than he can give.
Don't analyze.
Smile when he makes you happy, yell when he makes you mad, and miss him when he's not there.
Love hard when there is love to be had. Because perfect guys do not exist. But there is always one guy that is perfect for you.

2nd Anniversary

Me and my boyfriend celebrated our 2nd anniversary last March 12, 2011. Who would have thought that we were gonna made it this far? ;) We just had a simple dinner date at Sentro restaurant in Serendra. The food was really delicious, quite pricey though but it was worth it :) After that, we ate cupcakes at Sonja’s then we just stroll around the place. Last year when we celebrated our first anniversary, we went to Tagaytay to see the crater of Taal, it was really an adventure for the both of us and we really had fun. This year it’s different, we didn’t get a chance to celebrate the whole day because we had our review classes until 5 pm, nevertheless, we still manage to make the day special. I just love spending my time with him because he knows how to make me happy even in the simplest things.

Before going to class, I immediately opened his gift to me :)))

A puzzled picture of both of us, my favorite picture from our creative shot :)

On the way to Serendra...

Roldan, enjoying his food ;)

Roldan also gave me a really cute flats and a nice bag. For my gift to him, I made him a scrapbook (this is really such an effort for me ;) ) and HID Lights for his car.

It was such a happy and romantic day for the both of us. I love him to pieces and I wouldn't trade our time for anything else in this world :)
